Getting Started with Bow Hunting

Bow hunting is a great sport with lots of challenge. Hunting with a bow is much harder than hunting with a gun because it takes a lot more skill to use a bow. First, it is important to find a bow that is right for you.

To find the right bow find an archery dealer. It is important to meet with someone face to face when buying your bow so that they can show you how the bow works and which bow fits you.

Once you’ve found a bow that you feel comfortable using you are on your way to a great hunting Experience. Take enough time to practice shooting your new bow until you feel comfortable that you are precise enough to shoot your prey. After you get the feel of your bow you are ready to hit the woods.

Make sure that you have permission to hunt on the property you choose. It is against the law to hunt on property that is posted. If you don’t have private property to bow hunt on then check with your local DNR (Department of Natural Resources) and they can direct you to land that is open to the public to hunt on.

A person who wants to go bow hunting must obtain an archery tag before hunting otherwise they could be fined and ticketed for hunting without a license which is also against the law. It is also important to check when bow hunting season opens and closes in your area. Bow season is not permitted all year long there are allotted times throughout the year that bow hunting is allowed.

It takes a lot of experience to become a great bow hunter but it is very rewarding when you succeed in shooting your first animal. Bow hunters feel a powerful adrenaline rush in the moments leading up to the kill. Even if you don’t successfully kill your prey it is still a great experience to be
outdoors and you gain experience each time you go.

Bow hunting is definitely more difficult than hunting with a gun but if you take the time to try it you may like it and it may be the type of hunting you prefer.
