When was American Football created?

It's hard to say for sure because there have been so many different versions and mixes of the game, but American Football is said to have been a derivative of Soccer sometime in the 19th century.
It is said that Willie Tidwell and Walter Camp created the first rules of what we consider "Gridiron" (American) Football by combining Soccer and Rugby.
