I am sorry if I offend anyone but I'm just trying to tell it like it is. People need to start taking care of themselves as far as their health goes. We all need to exercise regularly and stop smoking and ordering super size meals. I mean come on!
I love to watch t.v. I also do a lot of work on the internet. But exercising at least 5 days a week is a must, as far as I'm concerned. In fact, I have a 6 year old grandson and had I not been in top shape, there would be no way to keep up with the little guy. He thinks you are supposed to run everywhere and just walk to take a break. No exageration!
Is it that hard to go out in the evening for a walk? A brisk walk. You want your heart rate to increase but you also want to be able to talk while you walk. Walk and swing your arms by your side. It's romantic to hold hands once in a while with your better half and stroll along slowly, but not during your exercise period. Pick up the pace and swing the arms.
If you really want to get into it, throw in an occassional run. Just start running and slow back down to a walk when you begin to breath heavily. Continue to walk briskly and then suddenly burst into a run again. There is a couple that regularly do this at the walking track at our local park. They look great! Always a smile on their face too so they are not overdoing it.
When you are out with the kids, play with them instead of talking on your cell phone. Kids run and stop and run and stop. It's like interval training the experts are always talking about.
Grab a basketball and shoot some hoops with the kids. Play tag. Go for a bike ride. It irritates the heck out of me when I see parents take their kids to a park and then spend their time talking on the phone. Their kids ask them something or want to do something with them and they get mad and tell them they are on the phone. Don't get me started!!!
I have an exercise wite where I give http://www.exercise-digest.com and playing with the kids is always something I bring up from time to time.
Just do something. Anything active is better than nothing. There are juse too many lazy people who want to sit around all day. Don't let yourself be one of them!!
Running. Nothing like it. It feels OK, or rather I feel thoroughly virtuous when I've done it. But man your step quickens, pretty much on its own, and you feel the power pushing through you as well - at times - after you've done that day's run.
Then You Know, THE DEAR FOLKS OF THIS PLANET HAVEN'T A VAGUE IDEA EVEN OF WHAT THEY'RE MISSING. Much underrrated pass-time folks.
